Would you try them?
There’s a lot of trendy anti-wrinkle hacks out there today. And they include everything from green tea to banana peels. I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co, will share some of the most outlandish and then my professional opinion on them, as someone who works in the anti-aging industry.
The Hack:
Banana Peels
Have you heard of the trend where you rub the inside of a banana peel on your face for a few minutes, allow it to dry for about 15 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water? It’s said the banana peel’s enzymes and antioxidants moisturize your skin and reduce wrinkles.
My Take:
It’s said those banana peels will make a difference. But here’s the facts: Just get Botox. Banana peels aren’t going to stop you from wrinkling. Botox will.
The Hack:
Coffee Grounds
By mixing coffee grounds with honey and rubbing it on your face for 15-20 minutes, you can moisturize your skin. Coffee grounds have wrinkle-reducing antioxidants. Honey is a natural humectant, which moisturizes. And that will help with your wrinkles.
My Take:
If you really want to rub ground coffee and honey on your face, have fun. That’s going to be fun to clean up afterward. I’d just get Botox instead – because it works.
The Hack:
Potato Juice
Influencers are confident dipping a cotton ball in potato juice and applying it directly to you face will give your skin minerals and vitamins it needs to reduce fine lines.
My Take:
I don’t even know where you can find potato juice. But I do know where you can find Botox. And I do know Botox works at making wrinkles disappear for 3-to 5 months.
The Hack:
Green Tea
Green tea isn’t just for drinking. You can use green tea as a facial toner, and it’s recommended because it contains antioxidants that stop collagen from breaking down, reducing inflammation and keeping wrinkles at bay.
My Take:
Just keep drinking that green tea and stick to Botox instead.
The Hack:
Turmeric
If you’re into masks, influencers suggest mixing turmeric powder and honey with yogurt and applying it to your face. After 15-20 minutes, turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties will kick in and reduce wrinkles.
My Take:
If you’ve got the time, make a mask. I’m sure it will leave your skin glowing. But then come and see me for a little Botox to get rid of those wrinkles.
Basically, my suggestion is skip the trendy hacks and invest in something you know works, like Botox.
