What in the Lindsay Lohan Is Going On With Celeb Faces Right Now?

Let’s take a deeper look at Linday Lohan and Christina Aguilera’s new faces.

It seems there are a few new faces around that are taking the world by storm lately. And by new faces, I mean actual new faces. Lindsay Lohan, Christina Aguilera, Winona Ryder and Donatella Versace have everyone talking about their fresh new looks. And they also have us wondering what is it they’ve done? And I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., am breaking down exactly what's giving them that refreshed glow.

Let's start with Lindsay's transformation, which is honestly giving us all the inspiration we need. The Mean Girls star is showing us exactly how combining surgical and non-surgical treatments can create natural-looking results. She appears to have dissolved some previous cheek filler and, combined with her recent weight loss, it's given her face a much more refined look. She's opted for what looks like a deep plane facelift with a mini neck lift, giving her that enviably tight but natural-looking jawline. Add in a brow lift with upper blepharoplasty, and her eyes are looking fresh and bright. That subtle surgical lip lift paired with perfectly placed lip filler is giving her the gorgeous pout we're all coveting.

Christina Aguilera is serving another level of snatched, and we're here for it. The Beautiful singer appears to have opted for a deep plane midface lift combined with lower face and neck work that's literally transformed her profile. Her Botox game is strong—we're seeing that perfectly smooth forehead and lifted brow that only comes from expert placement. What's really making the difference? Possible fat transfer to her forehead and temples for that soft, youthful appearance, plus what looks like some strategic weight loss (hello, Ozempic results). The combination of her possibly reduced chin and buccal fat removal is giving her that sculpted look everyone's after.

These women are proof that when done right, aesthetic treatments should enhance your natural beauty, not completely change your face. It's not about looking different - it's about looking like yourself, just refreshed.

Eleven Things To Skip After Getting Facial Fillers

Just when you thought you knew them all, there’s new things you need to know.

We’ve been sharing tips on what not to do after Botox and filler since we started this blog. Turns out, according to a new article New Beauty, there are a few more things we need to add to our lists. And I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., am throwing in two more I think are just as important. So filler-loving babes, take note.

  1. According to New Beauty, it’s best to skip facial tools after filler for up to two weeks. That includes microcurrent tools, gua sha and facial rollers. Why? It may cause swelling or inflammation.

  2. You’ll also want to skip goggles of the swim and ski variety. You want to give filler the chance to fully settle in. Goggles can add pressure where you don’t want it.

  3. We’ve said it before, but we will say it again. It’s best to skip excessive smoking or drinking for 48 hours after your appointment. Why? Well, simply put, it can make bruising worse and it can prolong healing. Also, neither are great for you for a multitude of reasons.

  4. Excessive heat is another thing to avoid after filler. So skip the hot bath, the steam room and the sauna because it can cause swelling, which causes your filler to break down faster. And we want it to go the distance.

  5. Here’s one that may shock you: Overusing arnica is a no no. Using it too often can cause you to not take away the best benefits from it when you most need it.

  6. Here’s another one you may not know: Skip the dentist for two weeks after getting filler. It reduces the risk of getting an infection and bacteria. Book those cleanings a few weeks after filler.

  7. Same goes for vaccinations. It’s best to schedule them two weeks after filler to prevent swelling around the filler.

  8. We all love a good massage, but you’ll need to skip the ones that are face down for at least a week after getting filler, as the excess pressure could cause migration. And no one wants that.

  9. New Beauty also suggests skipping supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E and fish oil, because they thin the blood, which can cause bleeding and infection at the injection site.

A few I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., want to also include are:

10. Avoiding salty foods, because it causes swelling. You want to see your results without any influence from outside factors.

11. Also note you can fly the same day you get filler, but, again, be sure to avoid salty foods and drink plenty of water to help you avoid swelling.
Noted? Good.

The Six Most Popular Areas to Get Botox and How to Get Your Botox to Kick in Faster

We all know Botox fights wrinkles. But what are the most popular areas to get Botox? Turns out, there are six areas that are the most popular for Botox injections. And that’s where I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., step in. I’m here to make sure all of those areas are wrinkle- and movement-free, so you can put your best face forward.

Up first, it’s the forehead. When you inject Botox into your forehead it helps reduce the appearance of horizontal brow lines, which are usually caused by the repetitive movement of raising your eyebrows. It’s also great for treating your frown lines.

Working your way down the face, the next spot for injection is the brows. Think of Botox as giving you a mini brow lift, keeping you from looking worn down. This lift automatically gives you a youthful appearance.

Bunny lines are another highly popular area for Botox injections. Bunny lines are the little lines around your nose that happen as an effect of scrunching up your nose like a bunny. Adding a little Botox will easily make them fade away.

And then there’s the lines around the eyes, often referred to as crows feet. If you squint very hard, you’ll see these are the lines on the outsides of your eyes. And if you inject them with Botox, they will magically disappear, letting you smile as big as you like without revealing your age.

Working our way down, the next spot for Botox is the perimeter of the lips. If you smoke, drink from a straw or pucker frequently, you may notice fine lines forming around your mouth. Botox can help reduce the appearance of those marionette lines.

And lastly, there’s the jawline. Injecting Botox in the masseter muscles will, over time, create slimmer, more defined jawline. And who doesn’t want that?

Now that you know the best places to put Botox, let’s talk about how to make Botox kick in faster and last longer. It can take up to two weeks for Botox injections to set, freezing the muscles and reducing movement. And waiting two whole weeks for that to happen can feel like watching the water in a pot, waiting for it to boil. If you want to speed along the process, there are facial exercises you can do to help kick things into high gear.Science Daily recently did an article on the topic and suggests raising and lowering brows, as well as scowling. You can also try zinc supplements to help Botox kick in and last longer. And, one of my favorite ways to make Botox last is by combining Botox injections with a VIPeel for a tighter freeze and longer, better hold. You can book a VIPeel with collagenproject, which is just down the hall from me. If you’re Interested in Botox  I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help with that, too. Schedule a consultation with me. Solutions for Ozempic Face

With drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy helping people achieve their goal weight, the popularity of these semaglutide drugs is soaring. What some people may not know is that while these drugs are a god-send, they also have undesirable side effects. One which I can help with is Ozempic face. It’s a condition where the rapid weight loss causes patients’ skin to sag and look even older. It’s a condition, according to a recent article today.com, that is common in patients that are middle-aged and older. And it happens because patients lose facial fat.

According to the article, Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank says "One of the most common things I notice with any form of weight loss in middle-aged and older patients is we don’t all lose it in the areas we want. When we get older … the facial volume changes and shifts around. But when you lose weight so acutely and quickly ... we’re seeing these types of changes in their face where it’s actually making them look older.”

And while you’ve obtained the body image you want, the last thing you want is to look older now that you’ve finally gotten where you’ve wanted to be weightwise.

Here’s where I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co. can help. One of the ways we can treat Ozempic face is with fillers. Because the face loses volume and can appear gaunt, filler can help bring a youthful plumpness back to the face. Fillers can smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. They will last anywhere from six months to a year, depending on how quickly your body metabolizes the filler, so they will need to be done again to maintain the look you desire.

Another option I can help with is PDO threads. These suture-like threads tighten and lift the skin where it may have sagged. It’s a great alternative to a facelift because there is minimal recovery time.

A combination of fillers and PDO threads is also another avenue to look into. Interested? I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Schedule a consultation with me. Lower Face Lift With Botox?

Yes, it’s a thing. And it’s fantastic.

If you thought Botox was just for crow’s feet and bunny lines, think again. A recent article on RealSelf pointed out something plastic surgeons probably don’t want you to know: Botox can reshape the lower face and neck. That’s right. You don’t need a lower face lift. You just need a little Botox and the skilled hand of me, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co

The article goes on to say, Botox can be used “across the entire face, really—to ease age- or stress-related changes, boost the longevity of filler and literally turn frowns upside down.” So the next time you pop in for a forehead freeze, consider asking how Botox can help change your lower face and neck. Many injectors use Botox around the mouth, the chin and masseter muscles, as well as under the jawline and across the neck to make Botox a full face experience. I’ll give you my honest opinion about it: It’s really amazing and effective. It’s also used to smooth dimpled chin skin.

The procedure is known as the Nefertiti lift, after the ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, who was known for her long, thin neck. And a quick Google search of before and after pics of the procedure will show you exactly why it’s called that. Expect to need 25 to 30 units of Botox for each side of the face for this procedure. However, if your skin’s elasticity loss is more severe, you may need more. As an added bonus, the procedure may also help with clenching the jaw or grinding your teeth.

If you’ve been contemplating the idea of a lower face lift, but aren’t ready to take the plunge or the financial commitment, this is a great alternative. Because feeling your best is something I always want for you, and I’m happy to help you get there however I can.

Underarm Botox Just in Time for Summer

Raise your hand if you’re in.

We’ve reached the sweaty-est months of the year. And, living in Florida, that’s saying a lot. If you’re tired of reaching for the clinical strength antiperspirant and finding it falls short over and over, I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at Smith & co., have a solution for you. And just in time for the rest of the season’s rising temps. Underarm Botox.

A recent article in Self asked if underarm Botox is worth it, then shared responses like: “It’s the only thing that works for me.” And, “I went from obvious wet marks to nothing at all!” If you ask my opinion, “It’s really amazing and effective.” If you’re considering it, it will run you 100 units (50 each arm) at $1,200 for those 100 units. It typically lasts six months, too, so you’ll be able to do summer in Miami (you know, the kind that never ends) for pretty much the whole season.

In case you didn’t know, Botox can be used to do more than just cancel out crow’s feet and bunny lines. It can also stop excess sweating. According to the article, “Botox is actually FDA-approved to treat hyperhidrosis specifically, a condition in which your sweat glands are hyperactive—and some research has shown that getting 50 units … in each pit can significantly reduce underarm perspiration for three to six months in people with this disorder. However, Botox can help with less severe cases of sweating too.” Some people stop sweating altogether, but most just have significantly reduced sweating.

The process involves a topical numbing cream. There may be minor discomfort from the injections but the numbing cream keeps it at a minimum. It takes about two weeks for the Botox to kick in. You will most likely need to get the treatment twice a year. But the results have been called life-changing for people who suffer from excessive sweating or are just irritated with normal constant sweating. It’s been said to restore confidence and even help people wear things they’ve always wanted to but weren’t able to because of sweaty pits.

Interested in underarm Botox? I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Schedule a consultation with me. Also, visit my other spot Collagen Project (just next door) for your VIPeel Treatment and Morpheus8. Reach out by calling 305-393-2311 or contacting mehere online. Lip Flip vs Lip Lift vs Lip Filler

What does it all mean and what’s best for you?

There are oh so many things you can do to your lips these days. And we don’t just mean overlining them with lip liner. With so many different techniques, it can be somewhat confusing, so I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., am here to break it all down and let you know what you can expect from each, to help you in your lip journey.

What is a Lip Flip?

So your friend got a lip flip. And she swears you need one, too. But what is that, exactly? A lip flip lasts six to eight weeks and will give you a very subtle turn up to the top lip. It won’t enhance the shape, asymmetry or volume. It will also only give as much as the muscle has to give. If your lip turn up is strong when you smile, you’ll see more of a result. If your lip stays turned out when you smile, you won’t get as much out of it.

What is a Lip Lift?

Basically, a lip lift is a big step. The biggest of the ones we will talk about today. A lift lift is a surgical procedure. The procedure shortens the distance between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lip. It makes lips look fuller, more pronounced and exposes more of the inner lip and upper teeth. If you suffer from downturned lip corners, it can help reverse that. It also smooths out the texture of lips caused by aging.

What is Lip Filler?

Lip filler is an injectable that can shape, balance, restore volume or add volume to lips. It’s one of my favorite ways to transform lips. I use products like Restylane Kysse to create a new lip for you. A half syringe lasts six to eight months. A full syringe lasts 10 to 12 months.

With lip filler, I can also do a lip lift technique (part of the Ashton technique where I can create as much height as possible to the Cupid’s bow to shorten the distance between the Cupid’s bow and the base of the nose to give the appearance of a lip lift.

A lip flip is $260. Lip filler is $500 for half a syringe and $800 for a full syringe.

Is Your Botox Real?

According to recent news, not all Botox is. Scared? Worried? Don’t be. I can help. Here’s what you need to know to keep yourself safe when getting injected and what to look for if you have any doubts.

After illnesses started to pop up in the injectable world, there have been a lot of stories in the news lately about fake Botox, including the New York Times reporting that fake Botox is more common than you would think. Time magazine also shares the symptoms linked to fake Botox illness. But I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co. can assure you you never have to worry about fake Botox at Smith and co. First and foremost, I always use products I order directly from Allergan or Galderma. Allergan makes Botox and Galderma makes Dysport

If you are using someone other than me and are concerned about if your Botox is real, check to make sure your provider is legit and orders directly from these companies at botoxcosmetic.com and dysportusa.com. You can also use their find a doc or find a provider search tool to double check.

Another great way to check to see if they work with or accept the awards program Alle for Botox and Aspire for Dysport. This means the provider has an account with the product companies and is ordering directly from them.

If you cannot find the provider listed on the search tool and they do not accept these reward programs, it’s likely they are not purchasing directly from the manufacturer. Consider it a red flag.

It’s your right as a patient to ask any questions you feel you need answered. Here at Smith and co. I want to ease your mind about any concerns you may have, so just ask. If you’re looking for a safe and professional injector, then look no further.

Is the Sun Making you Burn Through Your Botox and Fillers Faster?

Here’s what every Miami girl needs to know.

If you’ve noticed your Botox seems to fade away faster, or you’ve noticed a change in your fillers after spending time under the sun, there are a few things you need to consider. Thanks to a recent article in Elle, which begs the question: Does Sun Exposure Affect Filler? I thought I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., would share a few things we know make your trips for injections more frequent. In the article, double-board certified integrative medicine doctor and aesthetics specialist Dr. Rahi Sarbaziha, MD, says, “There’s no specific duration of sun exposure that universally triggers hyaluronic acid breakdown.” Sarbaziha goes on to say,  “It varies from person to person. However, excessive UV exposure, particularly from sources like tanning beds, can expedite the dissolution of filters.”

We also know there’s more than just sun that contributes to the erosion of Botox and fillers. Yes, that hot yoga class is a great way to get your stretch and sweat on, but it’s also a known factor in making you burn through your injectables. Maybe skip the heat and just opt for yoga instead. That’s also true of steam rooms and the sauna. So keep these things at a minimum, unless you plan to see me on a more frequent basis (which is just fine by me :)

While I’m all about looking and feeling your best, keep in mind Ozempic and other appetite suppressants like phentermine will also force your fillers and Botox to fade at a faster rate. Clearly, as much as we’d like to have it all, we simply just can’t seem to.

The best way to keep your Botox and fillers for as long as possible: Keep sweat sessions to a minimum and stay out of the sun. When it comes to being Floridians, that last one isn’t always an easy task. So keep things covered and don’t forget to use your SPF. And be sure to stay on top of your appointments. The longer you go between sessions, the longer it will take to get your face where you want it to be.

Celebs Who Get a Little Help From Their Injector Friends

We love a celeb who admits to getting Botox and fillers.

Recently Martha Stewart came out and said she’s all about Botox and fillers. As reported by E News on her Feb. 8 episode of The Martha Stewart Podcast on iHeartMedia: "Everybody is so interested when they see a selfie of me posted on the internet," the 82-year-old told her dermatologist Daniel Belkin. "So many comments are about my face lift, and who did it, and when did I have it done and how much retouching is on the photograph, and I just want to set the record straight."

And trust me, she does. She clarifies she never had a facelift. But she has dabbled with Botox, fillers, lasers and other treatments. Her dermatologist adds he’s only injected Botox on her neck and jawline.

Likewise,  Emmy, Golden Globe and Academy Award–winning actress Olivia Colman tells BBC Radio 2 she’s had “loads of Botox.” At 50 years old, she credits her less-than-50 appearance to injections. When asked if it hurts, she candidly replied: “Yeah, it’s needles in your face.” Facts. But when it’s for a greater good, those needles hurt less.

And while we love a juicy scoop, there’s nothing we love more than a celebrity who owns up to the fact that they rely on injectors, like myself, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., to help them look their best. They don’t credit olive oil or makeup or filters. They own up to the fact that Botox and fillers are something we all use. We may have different reasons for getting them, and whatever they may be, one fact remains: They keep us looking our best. So much so, it helps us put things like facelifts out of the equation or on the backburner.

Want to put your best face forward? I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. The Combination for Perfect Skin

Mixing VIPeel with Botox is the ultimate perfect skin hack

So you know all about Botox. But what do you know about VI Peel? It’s an amazing chemical peel that penetrates the top layer of skin and reaches down into the underneath dermis. It exfoliates your skin, stimulates new protein production, improves skin texture, pigmentation and even treats the signs of aging. And based on new research I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., am happy to share that combining these two treatments is how you put your best face forward. With Smith and Co (for Botox) and Collagen Project (for Vi Peel)  just steps away from each other, you can have skin people will notice and envy. And getting it is just steps away from each other.

We all like facts, and thanks to Helio.com, here’s the proof of what Botox and VI Peel can do when combined. After extensive research, Botox and VI Peel combined can reduce the severity of wrinkles by 60 percent, pigmentation by 59 percent and improve tonality by 70 percent. And as though that isn’t enough to convert you, 96 percent of consumers said they would repeat the treatment and 100 percent said they felt their skin looked better. The proof is in the faces confessing it.

Both have little to no down time, too. For first-time VI Peel customers, I suggest the VI Peel original. This peel focuses on tone and texture. By combining TCA, Phenol, Retinoc Acid, Salicylic Acid and Vitamin C, it wards off early signs of aging and fixes texture. Prepare to glow. For those who have sensitive skin and worry about what a chemical peel will do, stop stressing. This is the peel for you.

By combining with Botox, fine lines and wrinkles will melt away. Expect to see the best results in 30 days, as it takes time for your Botox to set in and peels take a bit to bring about a glow, as well. Botox will need a refresh in 3-5 months, depending on the way your body processes it. As for your next VI Peel, you can schedule for every 4 to 6 weeks. That smooth glow will keep you coming back, I promise.

Want to put your best face forward? I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Schedule a consultation with me to discuss which ratio is right for you. Then, we will schedule a spot for you at Collagen Project (just next door) for your VIPeel Treatment. No Botox Here: Celebs Who Refuse to Admit They’ve Had Botox (and Those Who Don’t)

We all know them: The celebs who refuse to admit they’ve had Botox and fillers despite the fact we can see their dramatic facial transformations. And then there are those who freely admit to changing things up with an injection here and there. So to kick off my first post of 2023, here’s a list of both compiled by me, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co.

Some of the biggest Botox Deniers include:

Not only has Jennifer Lopez denied having Botox, fillers or surgery, she credits her lack of aging to olive oil and affirmations. She’s even been noted saying her mother taught her that olive oil was a cure-all for hair, skin and nails. “It was nature’s magic ingredient,” she enthuses. “It’s the thing that makes your natural glow.” There are, however, pics of her in her 30s with forehead wrinkles that magically disappeared over the past two decades.

Nope, not Kim K. According to Kim Kardashian, she’s never had fillers in her cheeks or lips. But she admits to having Botox in her neck (of all places). She also denies having eyelash extensions and any kind of plastic surgery. Um, OK.

Bella Hadid may have a new face compared to a bit back, but it’s not Botox or fillers, she says. According to her, it’s face tape and makeup. She does admit to having a new nose via plastic surgery. Her eyes and lips though are just an “illusion” by way of a great makeup artist.

Hailey Bieber says, “She’s never touched her face.” And any changes in her face are due to makeup artists and manipulated photos. As for her lips, well, it wasn’t filler. Nope.

Kylie Jenner is another one who downplays doing anything to change her appearance. Apparently, these dramatic transformations are genetic. But then she remembered she got her breasts done. Oh, wait, turns out she did lip filler, too. It’s so easy to forget needles in your lips. So maybe, if we hang on longer, we will get more info.

Nicole Kidman’s face is dramatically different to everyone except her. After popping out of nowhere looking nothing like her previous self, she said to Marie Claire in 2007: “To be honest, I am completely natural. I have nothing in my face or anything. I wear sunscreen, and I don’t smoke. I take care of myself. And I’m very proud to say that.”

Botox and Fillers Biggest Fans

These celebs are our heroes for letting us know they feel better with a little upkeep every now and then, because aging happens and sometimes, when we want to look and feel our best, well, we have to get a little help from our friends (or me).

Sofia Vergara has been quoted as saying, "If it makes you happier and more confident, then why not?” And that’s a motto we can all subscribe to.

Cameron Diaz became my own personal hero when she said: "They're [cosmetic treatments] to help people feel a little bit better about themselves. If they do feel better about themselves, then those procedures have worked. I have no problem with that. And [in] a lot of instances, it does make you look like you've taken a nap...or that you might be a little younger than you looked maybe the day before."

Robin Wright calls B.S. on celebs who deny getting injections: "Everybody f*cking does it. I suppose I can't say 'everybody' because I don't know for sure, but come on. It's just the tiniest sprinkle of Botox twice a year. I ain't hiding anything."

Chrissy Teagan is the real MVP talking about Botoxing in places not everyone would admit to, saying, "Botoxed my armpits. Truly, best move I have ever made. I can wear silk again without soaking woohoo!"

The Best Lips of 2023

Yet again this year, lips topped the list of my most done injections by me, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co. And the results did not disappoint. One of my most favorite was when Alex Earl came to my office and asked me to do her lips. (OMG!) From the Ashton technique to Restylane Kysse or Juvederm to help reshape, I made lips that went from meh to meow. Here is a look back to some of the best lips that came out of 2023. With results like these, I’m more than looking forward to the lips I’ll get to inject in 2024. Just remember, a big transformation doesn’t just happen overnight. Lips take time and multiple treatments. So let’s do this together, slowly and with perfection.

1. Full and Pouty: A blend of the Ashton technique and Kysse. We followed her natural shape but focused on creating more height and surface area without forward projection. We were able to give her a really nice lip lift and then build out the tails on top and bottom, which help turn up the corners. For the bottom we were able to pull her down into a rounded pouty shape for an overall full pouty shape favoring a slightly fuller top lip.

2. Reshaping: Using Kysse and the Ashton technique we injected a full syringe to create this beautiful shape. We followed her natural shape but focused on creating more height and surface area without forward projection. We also gave her a nice, clean, crisp border giving her more contour and shape. We were able to give her a really nice lip lift and then build out the tails on top and bottom which help turn up the corners. For the bottom, we were able to pull her down into a rounded pouty shape for an overall full pouty shape with a 50/50 ratio with a keyhole pout.

3. Reshaping With Volume: Here we injected a full syringe of Juvederm Ultra Plus to restore her natural volume and give her some structural support and enhance her beautiful shape. This photo was taken immediately after and she is 30 to 40 percent more swollen than her final result. Even here she has more room, and this is after a full syringe. Oftentimes, patients looking for volume restoration think they only want a small amount, but the reality is they need more product than they think. When the swelling goes down, her final result will be more of a hydrating effect than additional volume gains. To keep the size seen here, she will need to add at least another half syringe.

4. Natural, Pouty, Defined: We injected Restylane Kysse using the Ashton Technique to create this beautiful shape. We followed her natural shape but focused on creating more height and surface area without forward projection. We were able to give her a really nice lip lift and then build out the tails on top and bottom, which help turn up the corners. For the bottom, we were able to pull her down into a rounded pouty shape  for an overall full pout favoring a fuller bottom lip.

5. Little Shape, Little Volume: We injected Restylane Kysse using the Ashton Technique to create this beautiful shape. We followed her natural shape, but focused on creating more height and surface area without forward projection. We were able to give her a really nice lip lift and then build out the tails on top and bottom, which help turn up the corners. For the bottom, we were able to pull her down into a rounded pouty shape for an overall full pouty shape favoring a slightly fuller top lip.

6. Full Classic Shape:  We injected Restylane Kysse using the Ashton Technique to create this beautiful shape. We followed her natural shape but focused on creating more height and surface area without forward projection. We were able to give her a little lip lift and then build out the tails on top and bottom for a longer, classic shape. For the bottom, we were able to pull her down into a slightly round pouty shape for an overall full classic shape favoring a slightly fuller bottom lip.

7. Crisp Definition with Kysse and Ashton Technique: We injected a full syringe of Restylane Kysse with the goal of increasing surface area and creating a defined crisp border with a lip lift. By doing so we were able to reshape these beauties without adding too much volume or forward projection. Oftentimes when we work on the border there is swelling that likes to sit there, making it look a little puffy when it’s fresh. This swelling can be annoying and typically lasts about three weeks, but don’t worry it will come down. Trust the process.

8. Lip Lift for the Pouty Transformation: We injected Restylane Kysse using the Ashton Technique to create this beautiful shape. We followed her natural shape but focused on creating more height and surface area without forward projection. We did this by working her lip lift and trying to get as much height from the cupid’s bow as possible. We then tapered the top tails tight, making it pouty vs longer. For the bottom, we were able to pull her down into a rounded pouty shape for an overall 40/60 ratio. By creating as much height as possible and keeping the volume medially focused, we were able to take her from a longer shape to a more pouty shape.

9. Full and Pouty:  We injected Restylane Kysse using the Ashton Technique to create this beautiful shape. We followed her natural shape but focused on creating more height and surface area without forward projection. We were able to give her a really nice lip lift and then build out the tails on top and bottom, which helps turn up the corners. For the bottom, we were able to pull her down into a rounded pouty shape  for an overall full pouty shape favoring a slightly fuller top lip.

10. Full Syringe Juvederm Fully Healed: We injected a full syringe of Juvederm Ultra Plus using the Ashton Technique to create this beautiful shape. First, we focused on the lip lift to create as much height as possible. This patient had exceptionally cooperative tissue. This is not always the case, and I can only lift as much as your tissue will allow me. In cases where it doesn’t respond as much as you would like, we have to work on it over time by building slowly to get the desired height. From here, we built out her tails and then rounded out her bottom to balance the overall shape for a 45/55 ratio.

Meet Collagen Project

I have some very exciting news to share: I’m expanding. That’s right, I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., am adding a whole other aspect to my beauty business. This expansion goes beyond Botox and fillers, too. I’m branching out into a new aspect of beauty: Morpheus8 and exosomes. Meet Collagen Project. And it’s conveniently located just a few doors down from Smith & Co. Collagen Project’s objective is to promote collagen-building modalities. And we’ll be doing that with the above mentioned Morpheus8 and exosomes.

Why is collagen important, you may ask? Well, collagen is a primary building block for healthy, beautiful skin. It’s what gives skin its youthful appearance, it’s plump, it’s smooth look and feel. As we age, collagen is broken down by things like sun exposure, smoking, alcohol and pollutants. And then there’s the whole aspect of genetics. If it’s loose, saggy and crepey skin you are starting to see, chances are it may be genetic or age-related. If it’s firm skin you’re fantasizing about, collagen production is the solution you need. Good collagen is the backbone to treating and healing skin.

One of those solutions is Morpheus8. Maybe you’ve heard about Morpheus8. It’s a treatment for any part of the body (not just the face and neck) that uses microneedling and fractionated Radio Frequency (RF) energy to revitalize skin. It remodels tissue on a cellular level, for an effective, non-invasive skin tightening modality. One of the very best on the market, too. By visiting collagenprojects website, you can see all the many benefits of Morpheus8.

Another solution is exosome therapy. As we age, skin cells atrophy, causing our bodies to produce fewer and fewer exosomes. As a result, fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin may result. Exosome therapy reawakes inactive skin cells so they can get back to work to revive your skin. Exosome therapy increases collagen, elastin production, helps heal wounds and decreases pigment production. Think firmer, brighter, smoother and plumper skin. For a full list of benefits from exosome therapy, visit collagenprojects website. And to see results from both exosome therapy and Morpheus8, be sure to follow collagenpoject on Instagram.

Interested in finding out more about Collagen Project? Call (305) 450-1745 to schedule an appointment or a consultation. Also, be sure to visit my website at collagenproject and follow on Instagram at collagenpoject. I can’t wait to help you start producing collagen again.

Lip Math: Which Lip Ratio is Right for You?

There’s boy math. There’s girl math. But did you know there’s also lip math? In fact, there’s actually a ratio for perfect lips. It’s called the golden ratio. In it, the bottom lip is ideally 1.618 times larger than the top lip. According to the golden ratio: Lips should be 1.618 wider than the width of the nose and top lip. The info comes from a study in 2017 and for many, many years that golden rule held true.

Because of the golden ratio, the trend was for the bottom lip to be larger than the top lip. These proportions resulted in the most natural-looking lip. But it’s safe to say with the ever-evolving technology surrounding injectables, times are changing. And so are lips.

As luck would have it, not all full, lush lips are created equal. Just look at Angelina Jolie, Kylie Jenner and Sara Sampaio. A little plump here and there can help you achieve the lip look you are going for. And these days, women (and men) are tossing rules—golden and otherwise— to the wind and looking for the most prominent lips for their face. And many times that means disregarding how well those new lips match their features.

When 2020 happened, with it came the era of the 50/50 lip. It’s also known as the “perfectly proportioned” lip. In it, both lips are equally symmetrical. Why should the bottom lip have all the fun? Why not make the most of both lips? The trend resulted in super pouty pouts, fabulous puckers and lips for days.

And now, three years later, there’s yet another flip in lip trends. This time, the trend is leaning toward a bigger top lip and a smaller bottom lip. It’s a proportion that turns the natural look literally upside down, but it’s a bold new trend.

So what do all of these proportions mean for you? It depends on what look you are going for. It could also depend on your other features, if that’s what you’re going for. It depends on how many times you are willing to revisit to get the shape and plump you want. Remember, full lips don’t happen overnight. It takes time and multiple sessions.

Want to do lip math? I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Schedule a consultation with me to discuss which ratio is right for you. Reach out by calling 305-393-2311 or contacting me here online. How to Get a Slimmer Face Without Plastic Surgery

By using a combo of some of my favorite treatments, a slimmer face is just a few appointments away.

A few months back I wrote a post highlighting facial slimming with Botox. In it, I mentioned “Instead of undergoing surgery to have buccal fat removed, you can simply inject Botox into the masseter muscles, the muscles in the lower face, to soften jaw muscles, which causes noticeable facial slimming and shaping. Masseter muscles, which you can feel if you clench your jaw, help you chew food and are located toward the back of your jaw. They are incredibly strong. One of the strongest muscles in your body, actually. If you have bulky masseter muscles, it can give the face a square shape or a wider appearance. But, relaxing those muscles with Botox can help shrink the muscle and create a slimming effect, giving the face a shape that appears more oval or a heart shape. And who doesn’t want that?”

But there’s even more you can do to slim your face. And it doesn’t require going under the knife. By combining different modalities, like Botox with filler and Morpheus 8, you can achieve the look you’ve been dreaming about with me, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co. While we know Botox can help with masseter muscles, filler can be used for cheeks, chin and jawline to give you a more defined look. Then, there’s the Nefertiti lift, a non-surgical neck lift that uses Botox to relax neck muscles to create a longer, thinner-looking neck, a la the Egyptian queen Nefertiti. She was well-known for her stunningly elongated neck.

The final touch: Morpheus 8 for buccal fat and under chin fat slimming. The FDA-cleared cosmetic treatment uses microneedling and radiofrequency energy to rejuvenate skin. By creating micro lesions in the skin, Morpheus 8 helps produce collagen and elastin to smooth and firm the skin. It also helps with fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars and fat.

By combining these techniques, you can put your best face forward. If you’re interested, I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Filler vs Filter: How TikTok Filters Aren’t Giving the Full Picture

You’re scrolling through TikTok when you come across a filter that you just have to try. And why shouldn’t you? You’ve always wanted to know what it was like to have pretty, pouty, puffy lips. So you click the filter, strike a pose and freeze at the horror of what you are looking at. Fish lips. Lip monster. Lisa Rinna’s twin. That insane looking lady on the ‘gram with lips that look like sausages who refuses to stop getting lip filler. And suddenly, your desire to get lip filler fades to gray. If you think that’s what lip filler is going to look like on your face, think again. A recent article from Marie Claire weighs in on the topic and I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., am here to spread the word that filters for filler aren’t telling the whole story.

As the article in Marie Claire explains, the “simple” filter isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, despite its nearly half a million uses. “Your face is not a paint by numbers situation or a Burger King menu—you can’t just pick a pre-set, it doesn’t work that way,” one dermatologist explains in the feature. In fact, the simple filter has limited capabilities. It also lacks skills and years of professional training, unlike a real injector. Overall, it’s simply not accurate. Some of those inaccuracies include how the AI of the simple filter doesn’t take your facial structure into consideration. That means the architecture of your lips aren’t even considered when it comes to adding AI lips to your face. Instead of taking the asymmetry of your real lips into consideration (as we are all somewhat asymmetrical) it plops a cookie-cutter version of ideal lips on your face. And most likely, that version makes the upper lip one-third smaller than the bottom, no matter what shape your face may be. It would be like trying to put your foot in a size 7 shoe, no matter what size your foot actually is. When it comes to injecting, I look at your face overall. What works best for your eyes, your cheeks, your jawline? That helps determine what lips will work best for your face.

As well, a massive lip transformation doesn’t just happen overnight. A perfect puffy pout takes multiple visits and time to happen. And that leaves you time to digest the transformation, unlike a filter that just dumps a brand new set of lips on your face in nanoseconds. If you like the overall look of the filter, let me know what it is you like about it. Is it the shape? The fullness? We can use the filter as a guideline for our overall goal for your lip transformation. And vice versa, what is it you hate about the filter? This way we can help determine what we should avoid. If it’s a big new pair of lips landing smack in the middle of your face overnight, rest assured, you’re in good hands and we can avoid that easily.

If you’re interested in lip filler (that’s filler, not filters), I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Schedule a consultation with me to discuss all the different things filler can do for you. Reach out by calling 305-393-2311 or contacting mehere online. Meet “traptox”

What is it? How does it work? Why is it trending? And why do you need it?

So maybe you were zombie scrolling on TikTok and came across “traptox” and stopped because, well what is that? (New places to put Botox are always an interesting topic). Well, you aren’t alone. Trap Botox is trending and it’s something you’ll want to learn more about. And that’s where I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., come in.

Traptox is taking a neurotoxin and injecting it in your trapezius muscles, the area at the tops of your shoulders. By putting Botox here, it adds a slimming effect to the muscles in that area, giving you an elongated neck and reducing the appearance of a hunch. The trapezius muscle is a flat, triangle-shaped muscle that often is associated with back and neck pain. If overused, it can become inflamed and enlarged. Poor posture, lifting weights —it all plays a part in what your traps look like.

If you’re ready to go down the rabbit hole, just type “trap Botox” in the search bar on TikTok and prepare to get educated. There’s some 2.6 million views from the hashtag. And tons of before and after videos.

So who is a good candidate for traptox? Anyone who feels their neck needs a slimming effect or feels lots of tension in that area. It’s even said to help with your posture, allowing you to sit up straighter. Whether it’s for vanity purposes or relief, trap Botox is making a name for itself. One crowd in particular is really taking hold of the trend: brides looking to accentuate their neck and shoulders. While the slimming effect takes time, with proper dosing, leaner and longer-looking shoulders are definitely a result of traptox.

Once injected with traptox, you’ll start to feel the release in the area about a week after the injection. Keep in mind, the slimming effect may take a bit longer. The effect will last anywhere from 3 to 4 months and typically takes 20 to 50 units per side, ranging from $500 to $1100.

If you’re interested in traptox (outside of TikTok and in real life), I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Schedule a consultation with me to discuss all the different things Botox can do for you. Reach out by calling 305-393-2311 or contacting me here online. Botox Can Be Used for Facial Slimming

Yup, a thinner face is just an injection away.

Just when you thought buccal fat removal was all the plastic surgery rage (allegedly with celebs like Chrissy Teigen, Angelina Jolie, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid hopping in on the trend) in facial thinning techniques, turns out there’s a way less invasive procedure to achieve a slimmer face, and chances are you’ve already used it. To see how buccal fat removal works, read up here. And then schedule an appointment with me. Because, instead of going under the knife to have the fat removed from inside your cheeks for a slimmer face, you can now just slim your face with Botox injections. And I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., am here to tell you all about it.

Instead of undergoing surgery to have buccal fat removed, you can simply inject Botox into the masseter muscles, the muscles in the lower face, to soften jaw muscles, which causes noticeable facial slimming and shaping. And who doesn’t want that?

And, if you mix this technique with fillers, well, let’s just say the face shape you’ve been dreaming of, is completely attainable. This technique can also help you achieve more defined cheekbones — without fillers. Yes, more defined cheeks without fillers. It’s essentially facial contouring with Botox. And the kind that doesn’t wash off.

If you’re interested in V-shape facial contouring without makeup, I, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co., can help. Schedule a consultation with me to discuss all the different things Botox can do for you. Reach out by calling 305-393-2311 or contacting me here online. My Best of Lip Filler Gallery

Below is what I consider some of my best recent work when it comes to lip fillers transformations.

According to Elle magazine, we’re obsessed with the perfect pout. And have been for some time now. Lip filler has been one of the biggest non-surgical procedures, according to whatclinic.com. And the American Society of Plastic Surgeons highlighted an increase of 50 percent in lip augmentations from 18 to 55-plus-years-old between 2000 and 2016. And that was seven years ago. Since then, the trend has continued to grow like wildfire. That’s a whole lot of lip filler. From the Ashton technique using Restylane Kysse to Russian technique Juvederm Ultra Plus, there are tons of options when it comes to lips. Looking back over the past few months, these are the best of the best when it comes to perfect pout transformations by me, Danielle Smith, Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Miami botox and filler specialist at smith & co. Keep in mind, if a lip transformation is something you want to pursue, I can help you transform your lips however you want. We can work on the shape, the texture, the volume and the plump. Or all of the above. We can focus on one lip or both. There are so many things we can do. You just have to decide what it is you want to do and we’ll start there.

Here’s what you’ll find below in this order:
