Lip Analysis July 20, 2019 Danielle Smith Danielle Smith NP injected this patient with Juvederm Ultra Plus in the body with 1.5 syringes of Juvederm and 1 syringes of Volbella to the boarder for contour and definition. This patient wanted to add more volume to her top lip while increasing the overall volume. Danielle injected the body of the top lip medially to fill our the bottom pillows then matched it on the lateral edges to flip the lip and expose more surface area. Then she matched the bottom lip by building out the oral commissures and lateral quadrants of the lip. Last was the definition to the boarder with Volbella. Here Danielle Smith NP used restylane for a subtle lip enhancement into the body of the lip with a combination of Volbella to the boarder but only on the lateral bottom vermillion boarder and the cupids bow. The trick here was attempting to balance out the baseline asymmetry of the GK points on the cupids bow. Once the swelling comes down they will settle out to nearly even. This may require a slight touch up to raise the left GK point. Danielle Smith NP injected 1.5 syringes of Juvederm to the body of the lips to add volume and 1 syringe of Volbella to the boarder for contour and definition. This patient wanted to achieve a 50:50 ratio between top and bottom lip which required adding a bit more to the top lip. As we add to the top lip it can round out the cupid bow and soften the definition of the lips. By injecting Volbella in the boarder, it allows us to redefine and shape the lips. We added back the cupids bow by highlighting the GK points and defined the bottom vermilion boarder with a crisp sharp edge. Danielle Smith NP injected 4 syringes of Juvederm. 2 syringes to the body of the lip, one to top and bottom in the first setting along with a 3rd syringe to the nasolabial folds (laugh lines). On the second session 2 months later she injected a 4th syringe into the body to the lips. This patient had a very small top lip and wanted to accomplish a 40:60 ratio. It takes time to flip the top lip by a significant amount. The best approach is to build the product up over time, adding layer by layer. The tissue can only hold so much product before it starts to shift it, creating bumps or projecting to much in the wrong part of the lip. Danielle recommends waiting 2 months in between building phases. Danielle Smith NP injected 1 syringe of Juvederm to create fuller and more balanced lips. The patient wanted to add volume to her top lip, but we needed to balance out the bottom lip laterally to support the fuller top lip. If you don’t balance out the bottom as well, you can loose the profile ratio, which causes the top lip to protrude over the bottom from a side angle.
